District 4 Supervisor Karen Mitchoff

DURING THIS TIME, MY OFFICE AND I CONTINUE TO WORK REMOTELY. TO REACH MY OFFICE, PLEASE CALL 925-521-7100 OR SEND AN EMAIL TO SUPERVISORMITCHOFF@BOS.CCCOUNTY.US AND WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU PROMPTLY. WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONTINUE PROVIDING SERVICE TO RESIDENTS OF DISTRICT IV.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

Hello and welcome to the District IV website! As your County Supervisor, I was elected to serve the diverse communities of Clayton, Concord, Pleasant Hill, part of Walnut Creek, and the unincorporated Contra Costa Centre.

District IV is located in the beating heart of Contra Costa County. We have seen great transformation in our communities in a few short years, as innovation, prosperity, and new residents join us in the shadow of Mt. Diablo. Mindful of these developments, it is my core focus to build policies that best serve you, my constituents in District IV, and our neighbors across Contra Costa.

I am committed to better connecting the people of Contra Costa County with the vital services of government, and advocating for policies that will help our communities grow and prosper.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Karen Mitchoff

First CalFresh Readjustment in Nearly 50 Years Helps Support Families and Boost Economic Activity

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has adjusted the Thrifty Food Plan to reflect changes in the food marketplace, dietary guidance, consumption patterns, and current food prices. This readjustment resulted in an increase to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

In California, this increase applies to the CalFresh program as of October 1st. The maximum CalFresh benefit for a typical family of four - excluding additional funds that are part of pandemic relief - has increased by $1.20 per person per day. As a result, families may see a boost in CalFresh benefits by up to 21% over pre-pandemic benefit levels, depending on their household size.

You can learn more about the increase and what it means for Contra Costa County by viewing the CalFresh Benefits Increase Fact Sheet.
