County Administration Building

The sturdy and elegant new Administration building is a four story structure that sits on the edge of downtown Martinez, with stunning views of bay. The original site was razed and the new building placed on a concrete pier foundation with an additional concrete slab. The exterior glass wave provides an elegant sleek look which comes alive at night. The new chamber room provides a state of the art location for the Board to hold meetings. The County Administration, County Counsel, Human Resources Department, the Board of Supervisors and the Clerk of The Board have moved their operations into the building since August. As part of the project a new Parking Deck was built and completed end of last year at MDF site which now provides 75 new parking stalls for County staff and the public.

Fun Facts:

Part of Pine Street had to be moved due to the location of the building.

The building sits on 138 drilled, concrete filled piles that range from 50-75 feet deep. These piles are capped by a series of concrete footings which support a concrete slab that is 14” thick.

It took 4050 cubic yards of concrete, 223,000 hours and 77 contracted businesses to complete the project. There was no lost time due to incidents or accidents!
