Dog Short-Term Sleepovers

COVID-19 Update: Due to the amazing response we’ve had from people interested in fostering during the Shelter in Place Order, we are no longer in need of fosters. If you have alreadysubmitted an application, a team member will be in contact with you if we need additional fosters.

Can you offer your home to a shelter dog in need of a short vacation from the shelter? Just a couple of days away from the hustle and bustle of shelter life?

Research has proven that even a short break from the overstimulating shelter environment can make a huge difference in a dog’s stress levels. It’s also a great way for them to get some much needed mental and physical exercise while having a great time with new people. There’s no pressure to find an adopter or adopt the dog yourself, but we do hope that by inviting a dog over for a sleepover, you can provide information about the dog’s preferences and maybe some greatphotos to help promote them for adoption.

An ideal Sleepover is 3 days, but can be up to 5 days. The ideal Sleepover home has no other animals, or the ability to keep them separated. On site introductions are required for any visiting dogs who plan to co-mingle with the resident dogs.

Most dogs labeled “Available” are candidates for the Sleepover Program, though health and behavior will ultimately determine a dog’s eligibility. Our priority dogs for this program are our dogs over 30lbs and over 6 months old, as these dogs tend to stay with us longer. All dogs going to foster homes will already be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Currently, dogs that are labeled as "Transfer Preferred" due to medical or behavior reasons, are not candidates for this program.

To join the CCAS Sleepover Program:

1. Register to join the Sleepover Program!

2. Once you’ve completed your registration, select the date you would like to pick up your foster for a sleepover

You should receive a confirmation email or phone call a couple days before your selected date, to confirm your spot and match you up with a Sleepover Buddy.

You won’t need to worry about supplies, as we’ll be sure to send you with everything you should need - food, crate or exercise pen, toys, chews and even bowls!
