Edgar's geographical responsibilities consist of East Richmond Heights and El Sobrante. Edgar is a Contra Costa County native from Richmond and is a U.S. Army Veteran. After his time in the service, Edgar earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Edgar transitioned to my office from Congressman Mike Thompson’s office, where he worked as a Field Representative in Contra Costa County. Before working with Congressman Mike Thompson, Edgar interned for several elected officials who represent our county; including, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond (then Assemblymember Tony Thurmond), and Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks. Edgar has a long history of community involvement in West County, starting with his first job at the RYSE Youth Center at age of 16. Edgar is also an active member of Berkeley City College’s Veterans Club and UCB Cal Veteran Service Center. Edgar’s areas of interest are veteran issues, public education, economic mobility for marginalized communities, and gun reform. Edgar is also a running and cycling enthusiast. But, most importantly, he is a proud uncle to two nieces and one nephew.
